St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day~

We are celebrating in green today. We are going to study St. Patrick, Ireland, rainbows, leprechauns, mermaids, and legends. We are going to do some writing assignments and some fun activities. We are going to paint, bake cookies, and drink green kool-aid. To finish up the day, we are going to have spinach lasagna, clover rolls, green ice cream, and watch The Quiet Man.

God's Promise in the Sky

It has been raining here for several days now. Dull, dreary, indoor days... But there was a break this afternoon and we saw the most brilliant perfect rainbow. Actually, there were two but I don't know if it will show up in the pictures. We could see end to end of this rainbow. It was breathtaking.

Since I have some neat activities planned for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, this was a perfect gift from God to start our study. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

The Work Box System

Everyone over at the FIAR boards is so excited about a new system of organizing their home schools, http://www.workboxsystem.com/index.html It looks really great and I would love to implement this system but right now our budget won't allow it. One of the ladies posted that this system would really help her be accountable to do what she had planned on her list because it forced her to prepare ahead of time. This really struck a chord with me because I usually don't get much done with H4 because I don't have it prepared.
Since buying anything wasn't an option, I looked around the house to see if I had anything I could use to resemble this system until I can get the book and other supplies. I found expandable file folders that worked perfectly in a plastic bin. These expandable folders keep things together and are large enough for her books. I didn't have 12 of these so I used regular file folders for things that didn't need to be kept together. I will work on improvements as $ allows. But for now, I think this will help and maybe my H4 will be happily busy.
